Description: Japanese mid 20th century bamboo flower basket. The uniquely shaped basket is done by basket master, BUSEKI SUISHIN (1888 - 1983). He had a shop in the Nishi-Nippori section of Tokyo. Born in Tochigi Prefecture he moved to Tokyo at age 12 to become a bamboo craft apprentice. He apprenticed with bamboo basket master IIZUKA HOSAI I. He eventually went on to make bamboo flower baskets. The basket measures 9 7/8" tall by 7 3/4" wide by 3 5/8" thick. (dorusu)
