Description: Japanese EDO Period lacquer box. The rectangular box is done in an elegant repeating pattern with the design of maple leaves and cherry blossoms in the middle of the large shapes on the top of the box. The sides of the box are done in the same repeating design. Inside and bottom done in a fine nashiji. The inside edge of the bottom and top of the box are decorated with small circular gold inlays, forming a geometric pattern. A simple and quietly elegant box. 5 1/2" wide by 4 1/4" depth by 1 3/4" height.
