| Description: |
Japanese 20th century framed lacquer picture done in black lacquer, chinkinbori or engraved lines of gold leaf, and mother of pearl with a night scene of a golden fox hunting in tall grass fields. Signed and sealed on the lower right corner by the lacquer artist Itaya Koji (born Taisho 14 or 1925). Itaya Koji lived in Wajima and was a pupil of Morishita Kodo (?) and Mae Taiho (?). He was first accepted to the Nitten exhibition in 1948, became a member of the Japanese Arts and Crafts Guild in 1966, and was given the Ministry of Education award in 1988. The framed picture measures 37" wide, by 31" tall and 2 3/4" thick. The picture measures approximately 24" wide by 18" tall. From Showa Period, circa 1950's - 1960's. () |
