Description: Japanese mid 20th century hand hammered iron horse OKIMONO by KATO SOUGAN (1899-1995). KATO SOUGAN was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1899. He continued to live and work in the Kyoto area all his life. In 1981 he received the Kyoto City Cultural Merit Award. He is known for cutting and bending sheets of metal into wonderful organic shapes like this horse. The OKIMONO measures 18 1/2" wide, 10 1/2" tall and 4" deep. (dorunesu)
