Description: Japanese late 20th century circular lacquer KOGO in the shape of a turle by Living National Treasure lacquer artist, OTOMARU KODO (1898-1997). KODO is the art name for OTOMARU YOSHIO. He was born in Takamatsu. A similar piece is in the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art. The KOGO measures 7/8" tall and 2 7/8" in diameter. The KOGO comes with TOMOBAKO, or original artist signed wooden storage box. (doinesu)
