Description: Japanese 20th century vase. Made by artist, ITO SUIKO. ITO SUIKO is the art name, or GO of ITO YOSHIHARU 1894-1980. Born in Kyoto, Japan, ITO SUIKO studied ceramics under ITO TOZAN I and ITO TOZAN II. He first showed at the TEITEN in 1929 and established his own kiln in the GOJOZAKA area of Kyoto in 1931. In 1964 he became a judge for the prestigious NITTEN show, held annually in Japan. The design on this vase is created by carving into porcelain. Wonderfully designed and executed. Comes with original artist's box. The vase stands 8" tall by 7" wide.
