Description: Japanese Meiji Period multi-layered covered lacquered box with tray. This magnificent box is done in a wide variety of Japanese lacquering techniques, TAKA-MAKIE, HIRA-MAKIE, KIRIGANE, TOGIDASHI, with beautiful Shibayama AOGAI inlays as well as silver inlaid bottoms and insides. The rims of the box, top and bottom, are lined in a layer of silver. Minor surface scratches, but in excellent condition. The box measures 6 1/4" length, 4 1/4" width and stands 3 3/4" tall.
