Name: JAPANESE EARLY SHOWA (1929) COPPER GOURD SHAPED VASE

Description: Japanese early Showa Period (1929) pure copper vase. The vase is in the shape of a gourd with the kanji "RAKU" written on the front for "joy". On the back of the vase is a poem. The vase is signed ICHIYA with KAO symbol. It comes with TOMOBAKO, original artist signed wooden storage box. The box says "RAKU or JOY done in shakudo on pure copper gourd shaped flower vase". On the inside of the lid is says JITTOKUSAI SEKIGUCHI ICHIYA, at age 79". He was born in 1850, so the vase was made in 1929. The vase measures 9 7/8" tall by 4 1/2" diameter. (karasu)
